Happy 8th Birthday Miss K!

So, Miss K spent the night with us the night before the big party. Her birthday is the 21st, but the party was at our house on the 28th. I forget why....ANYWAY. I'm outside at 8:00 in the morning in my robe and latte pajamas drinking a cup of coffee, reading my Sunday paper, generally minding my own business, and she comes outside, fully dressed and ready for her day. And she says to me, "HEY! Shouldn't you be getting ready for my party!?!" Hum. Isn't that Mommy's job? YES! She kills me.

Frisco BBQ Festival

We took Zach and April and Family to the Frisco BBQ Festival last weekend. It is in downtown Frisco up in the mountains and Main Street is LINED with tents of bar-b-que vendors from all over the country. You buy tickets and eat your way down the street and waddle back to your car. April loved the fried potato slices (homemade potato chips) Yummy!

Is there really anything better than cotton candy?

Alex and I loved the roasted corn the best. I could have eaten two of these things!

Trekkie Fever

Unknown to most of my friends, I am a total Trekkie. I have always and will always love anything Star Trek. So you must know that I was thrilled that they were making a Prequel. I was hoping it would be better than some have been (Star Wars 1,2 & 3 stunk...) I was NOT disappointed. We ponied up the cash ($30!!!) and went to the IMAX showing one early Tuesday morning (you can do that when you aren't working...) and I must say it was FANTASTIC! All I have to say to you is, "Live long and prosper!"

GG and Garrett

I Love my boys!

Bolder Boulder

Okay, I did it again! I participated in the annual Bolder Boulder on Memorial Day (then I cooked a BBQ for 12 people with Aprils help, but let's not get diverted...)I ran a little more than normal and did the 6.2 mile race in 1 hour and 36 minutes. No breaking of land speed records here, but I finished and didn't die so that's saying something!

Garrett the Dancer

So Garrett, being the youngest of the three, cannot miss out on anything the sisters got to do, including dance class on Friday mornings in the 3-4 year old class with Miss Debbie. It is a special time for he and G.G. and he looks forward to it every week. Only one problem. He is more of a linebacker than he is a dancer.

And this was Dance Sharing Day! For those of you who don't know, that's a fake dance recital for those who aren't really dancing....

He has found that he has a certain talent for getting upside down with ease and he shows it off as often as possible! Can you spell Barishnikoff??? (I can't!)

I know...I'm a Slacker...

So, after some chastising from my many fans, I'll try to update you on the events of the last couple of months. HEY! It's tough looking for a job every day drinking coffee in my robe and slippers until 11:59! Latte anyone?

Kate's Graduation

Here are Kate and Ryan. He looks tired because he is in residency at Baltimore General to be a BRAIN SURGEON! Boy has he hooked up with the right family! He'll be busy for years.....They now reside in Baltimore and are busily planning the big Fort Morgan Wedding of the Year in October! My little cousin has now graduated from college with a Masters Degree! Wow! I sure feel old. Here we are at her graduation party in late May.

OH GOOD GRIEF!!!

ALL RIGHT ALREADY!!! First of all, let me say, with all honesty, that I LOVE SNOW! I also know that April is our third snowiest month of the year. Okay. I know that we were heading right straight into another year of water rationing and drought. Okay. My lawn is happy. I know that it is like 85 degrees in Hawaii and probably mid seventies in Florida and I checked the weather in good old North Carolina and it's 69 balmy ones. Okay. I live here willingly, folks! On the Weather Channel today, there is this purple bulls eye over Denver. If you actually watch the Weather Channel, you know that means SNOW. And Howdy. We are due to get a couple of FEET of the good old white stuff in the next 24 hours. Me in a bikini? No. Me in a parka. GOOD GRIEF!

Easter 2009

We had Easter at our house on Sunday. Q's whole family was here. We had a great time. We had all kinds of great food! Leah made 72 deviled eggs. This is what was left.

I took this picture of Leah with baby Issac who's going to be One Year Old on May 3rd. Is he the cutest baby on the earth or what? His Mom is a beauty too, hugh???

The Boss

Friday was Good Friday. First and foremost, it was the second day of the Catholic Church Easter Celebration. But secondly, it was the day I got to see Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band. Last time I saw them was in maybe 1981 or so. He's still great! Clarence Rocks!

It's The Little Things

I have come to the conclusion that it is the little things in life that make me Happy. I walked 3 miles this morning. Happy. I went to Hamburger Stand with my Sweetie for lunch today. Happy. I tidied up the garage today. Happy. Why did I tidy up the garage? I got a new FREEZER! Really Happy!!!! For about 4 years, food has been jumping out of my little tiny side by side freezer onto my bare feet and making me say all kinds of unHappy words. Well, not anymore! I saved up for 6 months and we are now the proud owners of a brand new Kenmore upright freezer! Life is good! HAPPY!

What the.........?

Okay. We had a mild winter. As a matter of fact, we really didn't have a winter at all. It was 72 degrees in January for goodness sake. What the......? Okay. Colorado is a strange state for weather. Usually on the Weather Channel, there is some sort of bulls eye over our state or they forget to cover us at all because NOTHING is happening, which means gorgeous weather. I'm thinking we've been having that bulls eye lately. As I sit here and watch it cloud up again for the foot of snow we are supposed to receive tomorrow, I can finally see my new little pine trees in the backyard. This is what they looked like yesterday. I wonder what will happen tomorrow? The forcasters have been right lately......

Calling All Whiners...

Well, it's a sad day in this Broncos house. We LOVE Jay Cutler. He could have been the next Great One. If you don't know who I'm referring to, then you aren't a Bronco Fan and should just move on to the next Blog. The front page of the Denver Post this morning confirmed our worst fear. They are getting rid of our next great one, the king of all whiners, Jay Cutler. He had it made. Just because the owner made a coaching change that he apparently didn't like all that much, he has to go and mess it all up by being a big baby!!! I sure don't like a Diva, but I will miss him. Hopefully, he'll go to the Mighty Lions (0-16 last year?) and we'll get a great new start. Goodbye young man. Have a great career. Just not against us, please.

Cauldron Marbles

Garrett had a sleepover last night. He will be 4 years old in August (my birthday present 4 years ago!) and he is so dang fun right now. Everything he says just cracks me up. He and his best buddy, G.G., love to play Cauldron Marbles. I have no idea what it is, but Alex made it up when she was little and all three have loved it. Do you see the adoration in those little eyes?

Dads Knee Adventure

Well, for those of you wondering, Dad is finally home! He had a left knee total replacement on the 16th of March and he's been in the hospital since then with all kinds of excitement! Like the infection, the visit to the E.R., the crazy roommates, the forgotten meds, no bath for 10 days (Gross) and too many more to repeat! We spent the morning at his house today and made breakfast for he and Donna. He's his old fiesty self and she's frankly exhausted! If you're not squeemish, here's the knee too!

I'll Keep Working On It

I know. I seem to be obsessed with tulips. I never was all that keen on them until we went to Seattle during the Seattle Tulip Festival! They are so beautiful when hundreds of them are all bunched up together!

So, here's my attempt at the Lakewood Tulip Festival. I know, this photo was taken last year during yet another Spring Snowstorm. You see a trend here?

I know. I'll keep working on it.

Nine Years Ago Today

I can hardly believe it, but it's been 9 years since my Mom passed away! She was a barrel of fun and had way more energy than she should have had with all the things wrong with her body! She had the best sense of humor! One thing I'll never forget is how she changed lyrics to songs she didn't know the words to. She'd just make things up as she sang. Sometimes they were so crazy! I'll have a glass of wine to you tonight, Mom! I will love you always!

March 26, 2009

Ah....Springtime in Colorado!

Well, the weather guys were right, for a change! We haven't had much snow all year, so we'll just get it all at once! Wonder how my tulips are doing under there?

Spring Snow

We are expecting a huge snowstorm tonight. Surprise, must be March. And my tulips were in full bloom and ready to pop at any moment! A little early, I suppose, but STILL! So, I spent a little time today building a plastic tent for them to live in during this nasty little turn in the weather. Cross your fingers. Maybe they'll make it.....
